Via Charles Brun: Conor Benn promoter Eddie Hearn says that Chris van Heerden, 34, has accepted an offer for a potential fight on April 16.
Hearn said he also made offers to Adrien Broner and another boxer he chose not to disclose. Maurice Hooker agreed to fight Conor, but unfortunately, he was injured during practice and is now gone.
It looks like Van Heerden (28-2-1, 12 KOs) will be the last resort if Broner or another opponent rejects the fight with the undefeated Benn (20-0, 13 KOs).
Seven years ago, Errol Spence Jr, 24, beat Van Heerden in the round of 16 of 2015. That was predictable. Benn will brag non-stop if he stops Van Heerden faster than Spence.
Van Heerden hasn’t been in a match for two years and his last win came three years ago against little-known Aslanbek Kozaev in 2019.
Though the South African lacks ring activism, talent-wise, he resembles Benn’s last two opponents, Chris Algieri and Adrian Granados.
The boxing public will be flocking to Benn if he faces Van Heerden next, as he is talking about wanting to fight 147-lb WBA champions Yordenis Ugas and Chris Eubank Jr.
If Benn were to face Van Heerden, he would gain the same reputation as Ryan Garcia, a boxer who talks loudly about fighting against elite level opponents but then disappoints when he mixes it with food. cattle are not talented.

Fans are beginning to suspect that Hearn has little confidence in Benn’s ability to blend it with the contenders in the welterweight division. He is therefore perfectly suited for him dedicated to vintage watches that have been at their best for many years.
Hearn says Benn is making progress, but how can he tell his opposition are fighting on the sidelines. There’s no way to tell if Benn has improved since he’s faced with terrifying opponents constantly.
What we don’t want to see is that Benn put together a sparkling 50-0 record before he was thrown into the deep for the first time.
The way Hearn fits Benn, it looks like he’s trying to build him into a cash-out fight, which he’ll be completely unprepared for but will do for a lot of things.
I think I speak for all of us when I say that Benn should give up on fighting the next VanHeerden and let Hearn set up a fight against him. David Avanesyan, Vergil Ortiz Jr. or Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis next.
Benn will never improve if Hearn continues to educate him with pap’s objections. Hearn should let Benn fight the above the killer’s goods belongs in the heavyweight category, and if he’s as good as his famous father Nigel, he’ll emerge from the fights undefeated, ready to challenge for a world title.
Heck, even if Benn loses to all three of them, he’s going to learn a lot more in those fights than he had at 20 before. Nigel Benn not pampered by the promoters as he is moving up the ranks.
