Conor Benn defends innocence again but board says vital information is missing
Conor Benn is confident he is innocent in the ongoing story of his failed doping tests.
The rise of the undefeated heavyweight in the sport was halted when breaking news of the banned substance, clomifene, in its system. Soon after, his match with Chris Eubank Jr was cancelled, and he has been months since declaring himself a clean athlete.
His latest thoughts on the situation were provided via Twitter, doubling down on his statements and expressing disappointment at the ongoing investigation with no end in sight.
“I have never used PED in my life and never will… There is a reason why the WBC won’t ban me, keep that energy up when all has been said and done and I am proven innocent.”
“People realize the hump because it took so long, imagine how I feel when the truth has not been made public. However, I know the truth and can’t say it publicly until it’s all over.”

Meanwhile, combat sports journalist, Gareth A Davies, has reported that the British Boxing Supervisory Board has no key information. He revealed that the Secretary General of the BBBofC, Robert Smith, said:
“The information we requested we did not receive.”
. @BBBofCuk boss Robert Smith told me that work is being done behind the scenes to keep amateur boxing in
Olympics 2028 @Olympic
And told me no news is still on @ConorNigel case and two positive tests. “The information we requested we have not received…” Nul. boring.– Gareth A Davies (@GarethADaviesDT) January 21, 2023
It is assumed, but not clear, that Smith was referring to information that should have been provided by Benn and not the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency, who identified the prohibited substance in two unsuccessful tests. .
Benn, however, seems to be focused on The WBC investigation will determine if he can maintain their ranking and qualify for the world title. He made little comment on the Panel’s investigation, but continued to call on the WBC to speed up their ruling.
Whatever happens, he and his team seem adamant that he will be fighting at a high level in 2023.
