‘Completely On’ – Eubank Jr Advertiser Responds to Benn’s Fight Cancellation Reports
Chris Eubank Jr promoter Kalle Sauerland has insisted the battle to determine the legacy between his client and Conor Benn is still very much going on – despite a statement contradicting Chris Eubank Sr last night.
Talking to Talksport this morning, Sauerland downplayed Sr’s comment and reiterated the big fight will still be on October 8order at O2.
“The statement is very clear – the war is in full swing.
That’s really all I can say to it.
I have not spoken to Sister I have spoken to Jr – he reported yesterday that he had a very good match, that was last night.
There’s a lot of fighting going on.”
The boxing community panicked last night, when Eubank Sr told journalists he pulled his son out of the historic wardue to concerns about the health effects of rehydration provisions and the 157lb weight limit.
Rehydration provisions have been criticized in the past, with many in the sport considering them dangerous for boxers and there have even been calls to ban them altogether.
Fans appeared to have been divided last night over whether the withdrawal was real, but Sauerland’s comments today would go some distance to allay concerns.
Ultimately, the decision will rest with Chris Eubank Jr – not his father – on whether he and Conor Benn will lock horns next month.
