Big one Company of Heroes 3 news tonight game awards that is, in addition to launching on PC on February 23 next year, WW2 RTS will also come to PS5 and Xbox Series X and S platforms in 2023 at a later date. The exact timing of Company Of Heroes 3 Console Edition is yet to be confirmed, but it will mark the first time Relic’s historic real-time strategy game is available to play outside of PC. However, if you’re hoping to get into some PC/console cross-play action regarding the multiplayer part of the game, you might be disappointed, as publisher Sega confirmed to me. today that they “have no plans to support cross-play between PC and console for multiplayer at launch”.
I mean, they just said at launch, right? Perhaps there is still hope for cross-play support in the future. After all, Relic also told me last week they would “Go where the players” when it comes to long term game support, so you never know.
However, while I will be playing COH3 on PC when it launches early next year, part of me is quite curious to see how it runs on consoles. Sega says the RTS is being “rebuilt from the ground up for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X”, and it will also come with a newly designed controller layout (including “intuitive button layouts”) ) and a revamped user interface.
I have really enjoyed what i played COH3’s dual campaign so far. The Italian dynamic campaign is a refreshing mix of the turn-based Total War-style world map and massive RTS battles, while its more traditional North African operation resembles the old COH campaigns, stretch from one big RTS battle to the next in good old linear fashion. There’s a lot to learn, though whether it ends up ousting the original Company Of Heroes from us. best strategy game the list is still visible.
All will be revealed on February 23, when Company Of Heroes 3 launches on Steam, with new console versions announced later at an unspecified date in 2023.
