The hit show Community’s Prophecy has finally come true – the quirky and creative comedy that will truly become a feature film after its six seasons ended the show in 2015. Original stars Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong are said to be teaming up again in a still-unknown story.
Limit line was the first to report on the joint announcement from Peacock and Sony Pictures TV. As that combination implies, the series – and also Community’s full six-season library – is coming to Peacock. As of this writing, Community can be viewed on both Hulu and Netflix.
Notably missing from the film’s announced lineup are original stars Donald Glover (Atlanta), who we can expect to make a surprise appearance, and Chevy Chase – who has been around. infamous clash with creator Dan Harmon and other actors, and then unexpectedly killed off the show. So far there has been no mention of fan-favorite characters from Season 6 played by Keith David (Requiem for a Dream, Mr. Robot) and Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) or Season 5 played by Jonathan Banks ( Breaking Bad, played by Better Call Saul) ) – but it’s hard to imagine the Community’s big departure without them.
At the end of August, Harmon said a Community movie that expands and potentially ends the show’s story is “a matter of when and not if.” A month ago, he said that things had progressed to the point where a story was made because it was necessary to invite different partners to get the film.
The phrase “six seasons and one movie” has become a rallying cry among the fanbase, after repeated appearances on the show as the standard by which some of its characters hold to what a successful TV show should be desired during its release.
