Communal clash over bursting of firecrackers on Diwali in Vadodara; 19 people detained | Vadodara News


VADODARA: Members of the two communities clashed over an artillery explosion at a locality in the Gujarat city of Vadodara on Diwali, after which police arrested 19 people from both sides, an official said on Tuesday. .
Clashes broke out at around 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday in the sensitive locality of Panigate commune.
Those arrested included a person believed to have thrown a petrol bomb at police from the third floor of this local home almost an hour after the clash broke out, Deputy Commissioner of Police Vadodara Yashpal Jaganiya told. PTI.
He added that no one was injured in the clash and added that a motorbike parked in the area caught fire after a rocket shell hit it.
“Following an issue involving exploding firecrackers and rocketing bombs at each other, people from the two communities threw stones at each other,” the official said.
After the incident, security was deployed in the area and the situation was under control, he said.
Suspicions from both communities are being clarified, he added.
