Commonwealth Games 2022 Day 5 live updates: Weightlifter Punam Yadav failed for the first time in the recoil and weightlifting events in India’s first medal event of the day in the 76 kg class. After a good Wednesday, India will make history as they chase the gold medal in the women’s quadruple on Thursday. They will face South Africa in the final. In Athletics, Murali Sreeshankar and Muhammed Anees Yahiya passed the men’s long jump final. India will aim to increase their gold medal tally when the Indian badminton team faces Malaysia in the Mixed Teams final of the evening. In addition, the men’s table tennis team will face Singapore in the gold medal match. In squash, Saurav Ghosal will face New Zealand’s Paul Coll in the men’s singles semi-final. In artistic gymnastics, Satyajit Mondal will compete in the men’s crossbar final and Saif Sadak Tamboli will compete in the crossbar final.

At the same time, there will be weightlifters Vikas Thakur (96 kg men) and Usha Bannaur NK (87 kg women). In hockey, India will face England in the women’s Pool A match. In boxing, Rohit Tokas will fight in the round of 16 welterweight team. In the men’s 200m backstroke, India’s Srihari Nataraj had a time of 2:00.84 and placed 9th in the qualifying round. He has not qualified for the final as of now and has been placed on the reserve list.
