Dozens of police officers and employees from an oilfield company were taken hostage following a violent protest in Colombia on Thursday.
Colombia’s national police said violence broke out in a rural area of the municipality of San Vicente del Caguan, where an oil field belonging to the Emerald Energy company was attacked by protesters from rural communities and native.
Protesters blocked the entrance to the oil field to ask the company to help fix roads in the area.
