After introducing two products at opposite ends of the market, namely Route C5 and C3, Citroen India is preparing to confront midsize SUVs with its next product. The French brand has established its cross hairs based on things like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara And Toyota Hyryder, with an all-new midsize SUV, likely to be called the Citroen C3 Aircross, is undergoing final testing.

Citroen C3 Aircross: familiar design, larger size
Our spies caught this new Citroen SUV (Citroen C3 Aircross) on the outskirts of Chennai and a closer look will confirm that this is a much larger vehicle and not just a stretched C3. which has been speculated before. These spy shots give us a clear look at the upcoming SUV’s exterior design, which largely resembles the C3 hatchback with its split headlights, grille and wraparound taillights. The new SUV will be over 4 meters long and sources say it will have two- and three-row seating arrangements.

Citroen C3 Aircross: new interior, more features
The interior spy shots also give us some new details about this new SUV. It will come with a new dashboard layout, but it brings some components from the C3, like the steering wheel and gear lever. While the instrument cluster housing looks similar to that of the C3, we expect a better digital layout than the basic setup found previously. The top-mounted touchscreen housing is also different and more balanced than the widescreen seen on the C3. The design of the HVAC controller and AC vents still looks basic, but higher variants can get automatic climate control.
The interior layout is new and it will probably be better equipped as well.
The big red button seen on the dashboard is the emergency shut-off switch that most prototypes have and will of course not be available on production vehicles.
Citroen C3 Aircross: expected powertrain options
As far as engine details go, sources tell us that the SUV will come with a 110hp, 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that powers higher variants of the SUV. C3 hatchback. While this engine makes the C3 a fun city commuter, it remains to be seen how it performs in a relatively heavier vehicle. With 110 horsepower, this SUV will be a direct rival to the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated variants of the Creta and Seltos, and will be more powerful than the Grand Vitara and Hyryder. In addition, there are also plans to offer an all-electric version, the market launch for the Citroen eC3 Aircross could take place after the introduction of the petrol-powered version.
