Chrome for Android will ask if you really want to close all tabs at once

If you’re someone who leaves web browser tabs open on your phone (you know who you are), you’ve probably had that sinking feeling when you close every tab and realize you’ve just lost a right web page link. Yes. At least you won’t have many moments of panic in the future. Techdows and Android Police have noticed Canary channel version of Chrome 100 for Android adds a setting flag (“close all tabs modal dialog”) that requires confirmation when you try to close all tabs at once.

Chrome on desktop will let you close all tabs in a window by dismissing that window, but overall it’s harder to accidentally wipe out your tab collection. On Android, “close all tabs” is close enough to the other tab options you might hit by mistake.

Canary builds are unstable, so you may want to wait until a beta or complete release is available. It’s also unclear how long Google might build the flag into the regular settings or enable it by default, as long as the feature persists through future releases. Still, it’s easy to see the confirmation making the cut – it’s one of those seemingly small features that can save you an embarrassing search in your browsing history.
