Longtime TV producer Chris Licht will become the next president of CNN later Jeff Zucker resigns in the first day of this month.
Licht is known for creating MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and improving other shows such as “CBS This Morning” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” where he is currently the host and executive producer. .
He is expected to step into the new role after CNN’s parent company, WarnerMedia, was acquired by Discover. The merger is widely expected to take place in April.
Although none of the parties involved could comment on the scheduled appointment, CNN reported on Saturday that Licht’s hiring will be officially announced next week.
The news was first reported by Puck.newssays that Licht emerged as a leading candidate for the position of Zucker after Discovery CEO David Zaslav expressed interest in him for the role.
