Chloe Bailey and her sister Halle Bailey (also known as the Grammy Award-nominated duo Chloe x Halle) are two of the hottest, rising young talents in the industry right now — and ‘Essence’ took the best chance to capture all the glamor of the sisters in its latest issue. Serving up a fierce combination of face and style, Chloe x Halle also opened up in an interview with ‘Essence’ about their incredibly close relationship as they moved on their paths across Hollywood.
Diving right into it, Chloe didn’t hesitate to ask her out change ego personality that quickly gained fans thanks to her stage performances and music videos — while acknowledging that her usual self was the complete opposite. She said, “That’s what I’m striving to be, if I’m being 100% honest. As much as people think I’m very confident, 80% of the time I feel the exact opposite of that. That’s why I put so much effort into my music. It’s where I feel like I am and where I belong in this life — whenever I’m on stage. The girl that I saw and I watched sing back, she threatened me. I was like, ‘What the hell is that?’ “
Meanwhile, Halle said of the constant memes and chatter online that she doesn’t tolerate any slander when it comes to trolls criticizing her big sister, Chloe. “If you have a problem with so on, we have there is a problem. I am the Fire sign. I am the guardian of my family. If I love you and someone gets over you, it’s over. That has been my stance since I was young,” she said.
Noting that their 2021 separation was “very scary” for the super couple, Chloe explained that it forced them to stand on their own. “When she got the role of Ariel [in the upcoming live-action remake of ‘The Little Mermaid’] it was fun, but it forced us to be in two different, very, very scary places. “
Halle echoed that sentiment and shared that from the start she wasn’t confident that she could be without Chloe. “I was nervous when I had to do something by myself. I said, ‘I don’t know if I could do it without her.’ I was so used to her being there and giving me the final push. Witnessing how Chloe navigates her own outing is so inspiring to me. I am grateful for that example.”
Although Chloe x Halle is currently engaged in many solo projects, the two will definitely return together at some point to give fans a third album.
