Chip Kelly Not Happy With UCLA ‘Transfer U’ Twitter Graphics

UCLA Coach Chip Kelly was unhappy with an image shared on the football team’s Twitter account.
On Monday, UCLA posted an image that billed the school as “U Transition School.” The image cites a statistic that shows the Bruins have more transfer starters than any other program since 2020.
The image sparked some backlash among some fans, as it was seen as an indictment of UCLA’s traditionally strong high school recruiting. On Wednesday, Kelly herself criticized the post.
“That shouldn’t go up,” Kelly said, via Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times. “It was a mistake the head coach saw, and when I saw it, I said, ‘It was a mistake.’
While UCLA may want to advertise successful use of money transfers, bragging is a double-edged sword. This could be a negative message to potential high school rookies and the port’s plug-and-play approach. still controversial with some. UCLA’s social media department could comfortably dub the show as “Transfer U,” but that’s not something it would eagerly embrace in terms of the actual soccer aspect.
