China’s Envision Energy Seeks Next Green Breakthrough
The number of energy companies committing to a green transition continues to grow. Some pioneers are still leading the way, and Fortune recognize three of them ABOVE World Changer 2024 list.
Among them is Envision Energy, headquartered in Shanghai. Envision is a leading manufacturer of wind turbines and energy storage systems in China. One of the company’s latest high-profile projects: a massive power plant in Inner Mongolia designed to run on both renewable energy and green fuel. The plant in the city of Chifeng aims to produce 300,000 tons of ammonia—a fuel that can be burned without producing carbon emissions—using only green electricity to create it by the end of 2024.
Climate scientists hope that widespread adoption of such fuels could eventually have a meaningful impact on reducing global CO2 emissions. Envision’s goal is for the Chifeng City facility to eventually produce 1.5 million tons per year.
