The announcement of six major exclusion zones around the island that began on Thursday, and lasted for four days, was ominous. Beijing did the same thing in 1996, the last time the so-called “Taiwan Strait Crisis”. But then the exclusion zones were all outside Taiwan’s territorial waters.
