At least five people, including a child, were killed in an explosion in Dangri village in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today. Officials said the explosion happened near the home of a victim of yesterday’s terror attack.
“An explosion occurred near the house where the first shooting occurred. 5 people were injured. One child died of his injuries. Another is in critical condition. Communications staff is asked to exercise caution. An IED Another suspect was discovered being cleaned up. The div com itself and the IG CRPF arrived at the scene,” a police official said.
The nature of the explosion was unclear, officials added.
Officials said the incident happened amid a large search and zoning operation to track down two suspected terrorists in connection with the attack.
The death toll from yesterday’s terrorist attack in this district has risen to four after an injured civilian died in hospital.
Nine other people injured in the incident are being treated and doctors at the Government Medical University, Rajouri, said the condition of some of them was “very critical”. Several seriously injured people were airlifted to Jammu.
The victims have been identified as Deepak Kumar, Satish Kumar and Pritam Lal and Shiv Pal.
This is the second killing of civilians in Rajouri district in the past two weeks, after two people were killed outside a military camp on December 16.
