Only about the cases related to child custody brought before the administrative proceedings, he said that it is because of the ego of such parents that children have to suffer. He said most children abuse is from the parents, and because of their ego, educated parents are destroying the future of their children. Chief Justice Prasanna B Varale said the Pocso Act, a sex-discriminatory act, has been put in place to protect children/minors at every stage of judicial proceedings, including at the point trial through child-friendly courts. CJ added that in Karnataka, there are 28 dedicated children’s courts designed in such a way that the child-victim is not re-traumatised. KS Justice Mudagal, chair of the Juvenile Justice Committee, noted that there has been a marked increase in the registration of Pocso cases in Karnataka since 2012.
