Chevrolet confirmed an electric version of the Blazer in January, and on Monday we finally got to see it thanks to a tweet from GM CEO Mary Barra.
The tweet read: “Allow me to share a glimpse of the brand new @Chevrolet Blazer #EV.

After several trailers, we see the Blazer in its full glory. The photo shows an SS model, GM confirmed in March. As a new vehicle unrelated to the current petrol Blazer, the Blazer EV takes styling cues from that vehicle and is therefore inspired by the Chevy Camaro. It has a similar grille and the body has a similar Coke bottle shape. However, the roof is designed to be more square at the back. A carry-like design behind the front wheel will act as a charging port and rely on intro videoit will pop out instead of hinge opening — a bit like a toll gate for Cadillac Lyriq.
The Blazer is among 20 new electric vehicle models GM plans to release for the North American market by the end of 2023.
Expect GM’s Ultium battery Blazer and powertrain architecture to service everything from the Cadillac Lyriq to GMC Hummer EV arrive Chevrolet Silverado EV. It’s not yet known if the gas Blazer will continue once the EV launches, but it’s likely GM will choose to sell both models in a couple of years.
Power and range specs aren’t available yet, but we’d expect at least one version to have a range of at least 300 miles. Blazer SS will likely have more power and less range. The Blazer doesn’t currently have the SS model, which Chevrolet stocks for more performance versions of its vehicles, although it does offer an RS version with SS-like styling but without the added performance. One Equinox EV also coming soon, maybe without flashy design.
