Champion Forte ‘Powerful’ Activity for the Fountain of Youth

Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable’s Forte (Violence) showed off five stretchers for 1:01.58 a.m. Saturday at the Palm Beach Downs in preparation for a planned start at the GII Fountain of Youth S. March 4 at Gulfstream Park.

“He finished very strong and galloped. We’re very, very pleased with him,” Hall of Fame coach Todd Pletcher said.

Saturday’s Wind is the fifth in a series of exercises following the Forte’s Eclipse Award-winning win in the GI Breeders’ Cup for minors at Keeneland. Irad Ortiz Jr., the only racer Forte knows, attended the Fountain of Youth tuning on Saturday.

“So far, everything has gone as we expected as we planned,” Pletcher said. “He spent some time at Stonestreet in Ocala with Ian Brennan. They did a great job of getting him cleaned up and doing some light work with him before he arrived. So so far everything is going smoothly. This is his second five-mile move this morning. We let him finish a bit and he galloped vigorously. I am very pleased with his fitness level and the way he trains.”
