CES 2023: Samsung plans to create a connected world with SmartThings Station, SmartThings Pet Care, etc.


Samsung Electronics announced its plans to create a connected world of devices and innovation at the CES 2023 conference in Las Vegas on Thursday. The Korean electronics brand, together with key partners, shared its expectations to refine connectivity and contribute to sustainability. The company also introduced SmartThings Station, a smart home control device that allows users to link and manage home devices remotely. It also revealed SmartThings Pet Care, which can track and share pet alerts. During the keynote, Samsung also talked about new partnerships and plans to reduce carbon emissions at home.

SmartThings Station is a Matter-enabled smart home control device. It can be used to connect multiple devices at home including TVs and speakers. It also allows charging gadgets. It acts like a charging dock that supports up to 15W wireless charging for smartphones, earbuds and other compatible devices. Instead of manually controlling individual devices, SmartThings Station can be used to automate preset processes created through the SmartThings mobile app. It allows you to set up to three different routines by pressing the Smart Button. Processes can also be activated remotely via the SmartThings app. It is integrated with Samsung’s SmartThings Find, helping users find their lost devices. Samsung says that by double-tapping the Smart Button, nearby phones will ring.

SmartThings Pet Care, the brand’s new pet service, can alert people and pets to suspicious situations. In addition, with SmartThings Home Monitor, users can monitor their home right from their phone.

In addition, the company announced a partnership with Philips Hue to synchronize content from Samsung TVs with Philips Hue lights through the Philips Hue Sync TV app. It also refers to the Knox Matrix, to synchronize credentials across devices and act as a separate blockchain system for smart devices.

It also revealed Harman Ready Care in conjunction with Harman uses machine learning algorithms to collect and process data from car sensors to measure driver drowsiness and distraction.

Furthermore, Samsung has stated its goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The DX division will transition to 100% renewable energy by 2027 and achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.

Samsung showed off new products at CES. Before that, it added new models to its monitor lineup along with new models Tan QLED, MicroLED and OLED TV models. It will also show Flex Hybrid Folding Screen at the annual event.
