CES 2023: Movano Health launches Evie Ring
There seem to have been two major wearable-related changes over the past year. First, the focus is on women’s health that we’ve seen, specifically with Apple Watch 8. And second, moving from smartwatches to more compact smart rings for fitness and activity tracking, ourthe most important.

Into the Evie Ring. It is the brainchild of the California-based medical solutions company, Movano’s Healthand has just combined two of the biggest conceptual fronts of wearable health into reality.
Specially designed for women, the Evie Ring can monitor resting heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature changes, SpO2, menstrual cycle and ovulation, as well as periods and duration of sleep.
Movano says the aim of the “actionable insights” is to help women understand the “why” behind what they’re feeling, and claims that the Evie Ring can even “monitor moods”. Of course, the Evie also offers a typical wearable fitness activity profile, showing your total steps taken, continuous movement stats, and calorie output.
Users can access all this data through a mobile app, much like Oura’s current platform. However, unlike Oura, users will not have to pay a monthly subscription fee to take advantage of health data.
Movano Health is also planning to apply for FDA (Federal Drug Administration) approval for Evie Ring.
Dr John Mastrototaro, CEO of Movano Health said: “As a medical device, the Evie will go beyond the status quo of other wearable devices on the market and we believe it has the potential to change. women’s lives and overall health”.
In addition to seeking FDA status, Movano also plans to apply for the wearable device to become a licensed pulse oximeter — a status that other monitoring devices cannot currently claim — after a few weeks. Successful testing in 2022 concluded the ring’s SpO2 and heart rate were aligned with the exact FDA standards.
The ring is expected to launch around 2023. However, Movano will give CES attendees a hands-on look and demonstration this week.
The Evie will be available in sizes 5-11 and comes in three different polished aluminum finishes. The company also expects the ring to cost less than $300 at no extra charge.
