Celtic transfer news: Sead Haksabanovic joins Scottish Premier League champions from Rubin Kazan | Football news

Celtic have signed attacker Sead Haksabanovic from Rubin Kazan on a five-year deal.

The Montenegro international was wanted by four clubs but opted to move to the Scottish Premiership champions.

Haksabanovic, 23, has made just two cup appearances in three years at West Ham since 2017, most recently training in Sweden after a loan spell at Djurgarden and does not want to return to Russia.

He became Celtic’s eighth summer signing, with Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alexandro Bernabei, Aaron Mooy, Benjamin Siegrist, Moritz Jenz and Daizen Maeda also joining.

“It feels great,” he told Celtic TV. “What I know about Celtic is only good things and I’m very happy to be here.

“I heard about it about a month ago and as soon as I heard Celtic wanted me I told my agent he had to make it happen because this is where I want to play.

“It’s a great club with good players, fans and history. I’ve seen some games and I think the team plays the same style as me.

“The team is doing very well and I want to be a part of that and make the fans, the club and myself happy.”

What can Celtic expect from Haksabanovic?

Making 28 appearances for Montenegro, Celtic’s new No. 9 has also outlined what fans can expect from him.

“I’m a player who plays with some flair. I’m good in one-on-one, I have a powerful shot, I’m quick and I’ll give everything for this club,” he said.

“I know that Henrik Larsson is a huge legend here and I know his son well.

“Hopefully I can do something similar to him, which is very difficult to achieve but I will try my best.

“I know Joe Hart and Albian Ajeti from West Ham and I spent some time with Carl in Russia.

“He saw somewhere that I had links with Celtic and he wrote to me but I don’t want to say too much, I just asked him about the club and he only said nice things, so I can’t wait to get started now.”

Ange Postecoglou can be set to re-sign before the transfer window closes

Sky Sports News understands that Ange Postecoglou can still add to his team before the window closes, with Hajduk Split defensive midfielder Jani Atanasov also keen.

With about a week left until the transfer window closes, Postecoglou insists the club will be looking for the right player.

“Our hiring this year revolves around making our roster better and stronger, compared to last year,” he said.

“If you look at the players we’ve brought in, that’s what they’ve added to our squad.

“So it’s not such a specific region, it’s more if we get a few players who can play a few positions, it will help us.”
