CD Projekt Red will stop supporting Gwent, its wizarding card game, in 2024

CD Projekt Red announced that Gwent: Witch Card Gamewill stop receiving reports by the end of 2024, with the studio planning to move to something called Project Gwentfinity.

Talk to IGN, the studio has outlined several short- and long-term plans for its Witcher spin-off. In 2023, Gwent will have three expansions in April, July, and September that will release a total of 72 cards ahead of other eSports tournaments. Monthly balance changes are expected to be implemented and two more eSports tournaments are planned. However, the majority of the team will move on to a new project, with only a few team members remaining to support Gwent until this project is finished in 2024.

When support ends, the team will move to a reimagined version of the game called Project Gwentfinity–its name presumably suggests that the team considers this successor more suitable as a service. direct. Project Gwentfinity will have a seasonal progression system that will reward players with creative decks, and it will also have a new balance feature that will allow the community to vote on what changes will be made. Some other details are yet to be revealed, and it’s likely the team will face off for a while before we hear more about it.

The team’s communications manager began Gwent’s farewell tour on Twitter over the weekend, inviting the game’s community to make the new year “as epic as possible”.

In addition to the CDPR scaling down on Gwent, patch notes for the 10.12 update were released recently. The latest update introduces two new legendary cards for each faction and a new event called A Greedy God that will be playable from December 8 – 27.
