Murderville will return to Netflix over the holidays. On December 15, a new episode of impromptu whodunit will launch to the streaming service.
Even better, this imaginative crime drama will reunite Arrested Development stars Will Arnett and Jason Bateman. Program premieres back in February, and introduces Arnett as senior detective Terry Seattle, who guides celebrity guests—playing themselves, as rookie cops—through largely unknown murder cases scripted. Bateman and Maya Rudolph will star in the special, and while their roles aren’t exactly clear, the new trailer Netflix released for the special makes up for that lack of information. Along with Arnett, Bateman, and Rudolph, the show’s cast includes Eliza Coupe, Kurt Braunohler, Haneefah Wood, Lilan Bowden, Dennice Cisneros, Tawny Newsome, and Courtney Parchman. Krister Johnson is the showrunner, writer and executive producer, with Owen Burke, Marina Cockenberg and Kerry O’Neill also writing the screenplay.
Murderville is an adaptation of the BBC3 series Murder in Successville. The US version landed on Netflix earlier this year and stars Annie Murphy, Conan O’Brien, Ken Jeong, Kumail Nanjiani, Marshawn Lynch and Sharon Stone. Bateman and Arnett co-host SmartLess, a podcast with Will and Grace stars Sean Hayes. Previous guests on their podcast include Jennifer Aniston, President Joe Biden, and hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.
