Carrie, Miranda, Reba Performing – Hollywood Life

The Country Music Association Award on November 9 begins with a tribute for one of the country music artists, Loretta Lynnpassed away on October 4. Just over a month after Loretta’s death, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Reba McEntire took to the stage in her honor at the CMA. One by one they took to the stage, singing some of Loretta’s biggest hits, including “Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin,” “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” and “You’re Looking At Country.”

Loretta was 90 years old when she died, leave her mark in the music community of the country. Like so many others, Carrie, Miranda and Reba were all inspired by the late singer. “I was heartbroken to hear the news of Loretta’s passing,” Miranda wrote on Instagram. “She was so good to me and lit up so many avenues for all the girls in our country music scene. Thank you or all the songs. Miss you. Fly high.”

Carrie wrote an extremely lengthy post Instagram her own post, too. She recalls first meeting Loretta at the Grande Ole Opry when she was just starting her career. “Someone walked behind me and smacked my tail!” Carrie reminisces. “I turned around and there she was..in a big glittery dress..says as she continues down the hallway with what she just did.”

Carrie recounts this experience “how it sums up [Loretta’s] personality,” and she says she considers singing with Loretta one of the most special moments of her career. “She is irreplaceable,” continued Carrie. “She will miss it very much. But her legacy lives on in all of us, the people she influenced. I am truly grateful to have known such a wonderful woman and artist. Thank you, Loretta, for showing us how it’s done. “

In her memory Instagram Reba compared Loretta to her mother, citing that they are both “strong” and “intensely loyal” women who love their children. “Definitely makes me happy that Mama went first so she could welcome Loretta into heaven!” she added. “I have always been and I will always love Loretta. She has always been good to me. I definitely appreciate her paving the way for all of our female singers. “
