Kelsea Ballerini confirmed on September 9 that her upcoming album Can be changed there will be a collaboration with Carly Pearce and Kelly Clarkson on the song “You’re Drunk, Go Home.” We spoke with Carly ahead of the televised premiere of her 2022 ACM Honors event, and she shares more about the highly anticipated track. “I’m longtime friends with Kelsea and she came up to me earlier this summer and said, ‘Hey, I have this song, it’s called ‘You’re Drunk, Go Home. want to do this? ‘” Carly said HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVE “’I’m thinking of me, you and Kelly Clarkson.’ Well, I’ve been a Kelly fan since I was a little girl, I wish I could go back and tell myself at American Idol tour where I’ll sing a song someday with Kelly Clarkson! “

Carly confirmed that the track is a “super fun, tonky-style song.” She also added, “I think you couldn’t get three more perfect women at this point in their lives to sing this song.” Carly and Kelly are both publicly divorced in 2020, while Kelsea recently file for divorce from her husband for almost five years, Morgan Evans. Looks like we have a moment of female power in our hands!

You’re Drunk Go Home” is out September 23, but Carly has a lot to look forward to before that, too. In August, she returned to host ACM Honors for the second year in a row. This year, however, the event will be televised on FOX on September 13. Read more from our interview with Carly below, where she shares about it, the upcoming CMA Awards, and more. so more!

When returning to ACM Honors: Oh my gosh, I was so excited when they asked me. I love being on the show. That is extremely important to me as I continue to build my career. So to do that in the second year is amazing. It was obviously a very special night in its first year, but it was all live streamed and still happening during the pandemic. So to do it now and it’s my own first large hosting scenario, on a large network… I feel the pressure. But I was very excited.

About what to expect during the ACM Honors: I don’t just say this to blow smoke, but every performance of the night [was incredible]. It was a fun show where other artists joined in and gave their own interpretations of the honorees’ music. Kelsea Ballerini gave a great theatrical performance of “Man I Feel Like A Woman.” Brooks & Dunn and Big Small Town honor Miranda Lambert in really special ways. Vince Gill honor Chris Stapleton. It was a fun night. Each performance is very unique.

On the success of her latest single “What He Didn’t Do”: For me, this song is one that I feel like fans have been drawing attention to since I released it by singing it around a little writer in Nashville during the pandemic. I sang it and it went viral instantly. Video of someone’s cell phone went online and it’s the little song that I feel like the fans have been wanting all this time. For me, it’s one of those songs I really fought for wanting it to be a single at some point. Honestly, it’s bigger than any song I’ve had in terms of organic growth on social and streaming and in my live shows.

I think the great thing about it is that it comes from a dark place for me and has become a song about not lowering your expectations and making sure that in a relationship your expectations are met and You feel loved because you deserve it.

About the new song she’s working on: I’m working on new music and I’m really excited for the fans to hear it. I think it’s a transitional time for me. I can’t say: ‘Sorry, I’m happy and everything is great!’ in new music, but I think people will see the process of me finding happiness and getting out on the other side and how I struggled with all the different emotions that come with opening your heart once Again.

Of her 5 CMA Award nominations, including Female Vocalist of the Year, which she won in 2021: They all surprise me, all the time. I’m surprised I have five, for sure. As a musician, at the ACMs in 2021, when I won Single of the Year, I remember being… awesome. And now being nominated at the CMA for Single and Song of the Year with a song is such a personal experience just the most rewarding thing to do as a musician. That’s always what it’s like… wow, that’s really cool. But also really excited about female vocals!
