MANILA, Philippines – Carlos Edriel Yulo took the lead in the men’s floor exercise and reached the final in four events at the 51st FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships taking place in Liverpool, England.

Yulo took 15,266 points on the floor to lead all qualifying to the medal round of the event that the Filipino gymnastics ace dominated in 2019 in Stuttgart, Germany.

“It was a really good result, but it was only qualifying. I’m not bragging, it’s not the final yet so if I can do it in the final I would say I’m satisfied,’ said Yulo after completing all his procedures in apparatus at M&S Bank Arena .

Yulo also delivers in the men’s vault, where the Filipino blaster is reigning world champion second in qualifying with 14.849.

“Right now, I’m really excited but not satisfied because there are so many areas where I can still improve. Vault was really scary, it was my first time doing Ri Se Gwang, so it was really big for me,” Yulo said.

Ri Se Gwang is a vault named after North Korea’s 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympic gold medalist.

“It gives me the confidence now to compete in the final,” he added.
