A Kerala couple allegedly mutilated and killed two women in a “human sacrifice” ritual to get rich quick, police say. police said today, as shocking new details in the case emerged.
The victims Roselin and Padma were tied up and tortured before they were strangled, police said. Women’s breasts are cut open and blood is allowed to flow. The sheriff said one of the bodies was cut into 56 pieces. Body parts were found from three pits.
The main defendant was Muhammad Shafi, described as a “sexual pervert” and sadist who lured the women to the home of Bhagaval Singh and his wife Laila. Shafi was released on bail in a 2020 case related to the sexual assault of a 75-year-old woman.
Shafi allegedly promised victims money to film porn. At the same time, he “advised” Bhagaval Singh and Laila to perform a human sacrifice to end financial trouble and become rich, police said.
“There is a possibility that the defendant ate the body parts after killing the victims. It is under investigation, but has not been confirmed,” police chief Kochi CH Nagaraju said.
Bhagaval Singh, a massage therapist and “healer” with a following on social media, is said to be related to the state’s CPI(M). The party, however, denied that he was a member.
“He worked with us but was not a member of our party. He used to be a progressive man, but after his second marriage he became a religious man. That may be. is his wife’s influence,” said PR Pradeep, an official CPI (M).
Police said Roselin disappeared in June and Padma in September.
Roselin and Padma were killed as part of a ritual sacrifice.
The police were investigating Padma’s disappearance when they discovered the murders. The women’s phones were found to be Shafi’s. He was tracked with the help of CCTV footage and a car he had abandoned. Investigations led police to the house in Pathanamthitta, where Bhagaval Singh and his wife confessed.
Mr. Nagaraju said “Shafi is a sex deviant, a psychopath killer” and the main defendant in the case, adding that the dropout was addicted to depraved sex and was “amused” with cruelty”.
Shafi is said to have lured the women after contacting them on social media.
Mr. Nagaraju said: “The prime minister accused Shafi of being a pervert. We are investigating whether there are more suspects and whether such cases occur. His motives are sadism and lewdness. lose”.
“Shafi has committed sexual immorality with women. Shafi provides women for sacrifice and cannibalism for clients.”
The police commissioner also mentioned the allegation that Shafi tried to rape an elderly woman. The trauma she suffered was similar, he said.
Padma was strangled by Shafi, beheaded and cut into 56 pieces, police said.
Roselin is said to have been strangled by Laila, and her breasts were removed.
Investigations revealed that one of the women was tortured with a knife.
