Unfortunately, boxing fans won’t get a chance to see Canelo (57-2-2, 39 KOs) try out his new tactics against Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) in an instant rematch. in September because he decided to play a trio of matches against Gennadiy Golovkin Next.
Canelo says he’s a competitive guy, and he’ll give it another try. Canelo will need to make big improvements to his game to beat Bivol because he has completely lost to the undefeated WBA lightweight champion.
Bivol is a fighter with better technique than Canelo, and he doesn’t win because of his size. He’s a lot smarter inside the ring and quickly defuses Canelo’s simple dimensional violation.

“I tried to gain weight and win this championship, but we didn’t make it. But we will try again. Just like that I will look much better physically Canelo said.
Maybe trying to improve Canelo’s physical condition won’t work as he won’t be able to beat Bivol, David Benavidez or David Morrell Jr with his limited gas tank.
Canelo has had endurance issues since he was in his 20s, and if you’re having heart problems at that early stage, you’re not going to suddenly see significant improvement in your 30s.
We’ll see a similar one-sided duel in the Canelo-Bivol rematch, and it won’t be a problem for Canelo to use the new principle. He will be beaten again and probably worse.
If Canelo chooses to fight Benavidez, he will face the same problem against Bivol. Benavidez will enter the knockout stages and overwhelm Canelo’s cover defence with punches.
Anyone who knows anything about boxing can spot the flaws in Canelo’s bout last year when he beat super-middleweight champions Billy Joe Saunders and Caleb Plant.
Canelo rushes forward behind his high defense during those fights and will then take the hit with single punches.
Canelo’s work rate is very, very low, and he clearly lacks the heart to throw more than a few shots.
Luckily for Canelo, Plant, Saunders and Avni Yildirim are easy names and can’t take advantage of his low work rate the way more talented boxers like David Benavidez or Bivol do.
