Via Sean Jones: WBC interim super middleweight champion David Benavidez says he will go to WBC to ask them to force undisputed 168 lb champion Canelo Alvarez to face him next if he beats Caleb Plant on this Saturday night, March 25 in their first match on Showtimes PPV.

Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) says he’s been the man to win Canelo’s WBC in the last two games and that the sanctioning body has yet to order the game for some reason. Some boxing fans believe the WBC protected Canelo by not asking him to defend the title against Benavidez.
You can’t blame Benavidez for wanting the WBC belt and forcing Canelo to fight him because if he waits, he may never get a chance to fight the Mexican star before he retires.
The WBC has yet to force WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo to defend his belt over the past two years.
Benavidez wants to face Canelo to prove himself
“I want to fight Canelo to prove I’m the best at 168, but if he doesn’t want to fight, then of course, that’s the way I’m going,” David Benavidez told The Sun. media on Wednesday when asked if he would go the WBC route to force them to order a duel against Canelo Alvarez if he wins Caleb Plant on Saturday night
“I was a must in the last two games. It’s my turn to fight for the title, but first thing, I have to deal with work on March 25th.
“It’s my nature. I always show that nasty side of me. I’ve also worked on the defensive side of this fight. Like I said, I’ll have to take every weapon out of the inventory. his weapon to take down Caleb Plant.
“I want to follow in the footsteps of those great Mexican boxers. I try to live in the moment. This is a beautiful moment. All of these people took the time to come and see it, and I’m so grateful,” Benavidez said.
Defeating Plant is Benavidez’s goal
Benavidez said: “Now that I know I can get here, the sky is the limit on how far I can stay here. “This is where I want to be for the rest of my life. I want to continue to work hard.
“I would be pleased with a win, but I would be disappointed in myself. I’ve talked a lot about s**t, so I want to go and be eliminated. Like I said, I hurt everyone I fought with in the ring. I can definitely get it with the right photos.
“I have stamina. I fought up to 15 rounds with four different scrim partners. It’s nothing new to me. I will keep pushing until that is achieved,” Benavidez said.
