Can Texas and Oklahoma leave the Big 12 soon?
The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners are still three years away from officially leaving the Big 12 to join the SEC, but that timeline seems likely to be pushed up, according to a report.
On Wednesday, the Big 12 confirmed that they are opening conversations with Fox and ESPN about renegotiating the league’s current TV contract soon. The move was seen by many as an attempt to knock the Pac-12 to market, preventing the rival conference from gaining a possible advantage in rights negotiations.
However, this move could have a side effect. According to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports, Texas and Oklahoma are actively discussing the possibility of moving their departure dates to 2025.
