Cam Newton’s potential trade destinations

Former NFL MVP Cam Newton’s career has gone downhill over the past few years. Last season, Newton returned to Carolina after a stop in New England. While he is no more MVP Cam since 2015, some teams can still use his skill set, even if it’s backup.

Newton speak. “I answer this now, just one day removed from the season, I don’t know what it looks like. But can I tell you I have a lot of football [left], do I want to play? Yes. But under the right conditions. ”

Whether the ideal situation occurs for Newton remains to be seen. Contrary to what most believe, Newton said he would be available for a backup role in “the right situation.” But there are a number of teams around the NFL that should perhaps consider Cam and put him in training and pre-season if the Panthers go a different route.

The Arizona Cardinals

All right, just listen to me. Of course, we know of no scene where Cam becomes the starter with Kyler Murray in Arizona. But there can be a backup also question about maturity as a young NFL QB a decade ago could do well for Murray.

Kyler removed all mentions of the Cardinals on his social media after the season ended. Then, when he finally spoke about it publicly, he downplayed it, seemingly without accountability for the incident. If the Cardinals decide to bring in Newton as a mentor, it could be an easy transition as the books won’t need to change much if Murray misses out on court time like he did last year.

Seattle Seahawks Football Team

With Russell Wilson gone, Seattle no longer has a legitimate QB in their defence. It’s hard to believe the Seahawks are ready to enter the 2022-23 season with Drew Lock as their starting QB. NFC West will still be a hell of a tough division. You would think Pete Carroll would at least want Lock to fight for that starting spot.

Seattle should bring in Newton to compete for gigs to begin. Geno Smith is still an option, even though he’s a freelance agent. The Seahawks could bring in Geno, sign Cam and let them fight Drew for the QB1 spot. Seattle is one of the few places where Newton could be a starter. Either way, Seattle probably won’t win more than six games next season, and that could be a long time.

Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta swapped longtime starter and former league MVP Matt Ryan last week, which officially indicates they will be starting again. Yes, they signed QB Marcus Mariota, but his backup AJ McCarron and Josh Rosen are both free agents. McCarron is unrestricted and Rosen is restricted.

As much as Cam’s has dropped since first leaving Carolina after the 2019 campaign, a healthy Newton will have enough health left in the tank to defeat McCarron or Rosen. Well, at least one would assume so. Of course, there are no guarantees for Newton at this point. In addition, he will return home to the area where he grew up. If Cam can’t finish his career with the team that drafted him No. 1 overall, it would be great to see him. finish where it all started. And Mariota has a history of being beaten and missed games, so there’s a chance Newton could see some action.

The clock is ticking Newton’s time in this tournament. I think there is still a point for Newton, but it probably won’t be like QB1. Unless something crazy happens or Superman rediscovers his powers and turns back into Super Cam around 2015. Since the chances of that happening are slim, he’ll need to be prepared to accept an iPad holding role on the sidelines for any team that signs him.
