Caller threatens to blow up SBI office in Mumbai, police initiate probe | India News


MUMBAI: A call that threatens to blow up State Bank of India office in Mumbai’s Nariman Point and kill the bank’s president was received at the branch, police said Friday.
The caller introduced himself as MD Jia-Ul-Alim and testified that he was speaking from Pakistan. He demanded a loan from the bank and threatened to kidnap the bank president and kill him if he was denied a loan. He also said he would blow up the bank if he didn’t get the loan.
“An unidentified person called the landline phone of SBI’s Nariman Point branch at around 11am on October 13 and threatened. The caller identified himself as MD Jia-Ul-Alim and said he was is talking from Pakistan and if he doesn’t get a loan at the earliest, he will kidnap the president of SBI and kill him. He also threatened to blow up the SBI office,” said one. Mumbai Police official.
Upon receipt of the call, the complaint was filed at Marine Drive Police station, the police then registered a case against an unknown person.
Based on the bank’s complaint, Marine Drive police have registered a case against an unidentified person under section 506(2) of the IPC and initiated an investigation.
