Via Knitting Ambrosio: Caleb ‘Sweethands’ Plant and David Benavidez exchanged trash talks today on Instagram ahead of their fight on a date still to be determined in March. Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) said he wanted to smash Plant in the face when he brought him into the ring.
Benavidez tells Plant that the conversation he is having will not be seen by him when he meets him because he will break his face.
The manager of former two-time WBC super-middleweight champion Benavidez says he will fight him against the ‘regular’ 168-lb WBA champion David Morrel once he passes Plant.
There is also the possibility that Benavidez will face Canelo Alvarez in September. If Canelo avoids Benavidez, he could be stripped of the WBC belt.

Plant vs. Benavidez in March
“It will be in March,” Benavidez manager Sampson Lewkowicz told fight about the fight between Caleb Plant and David Benavidez. “Not yet. We’re counting the dates, but it’s definitely March, and it’s going to be a great, great game.
“It could be in Nevada or California. My hometown is Las Vegas. We are still working on that date and we are still working on the site.
“We have a signed contract. He will fight Benavidez regardless,” Lewkowicz on WBA’s ‘regular’ super middleweight champion David Morrell to take on Benavidez after Plant.
“Hopefully later. Otherwise, we will continue to be busy. He was one of those fearless Cuban fighters, and he made the decision that it was the fight he wanted. Now, Canelo, it could happen in September. If Canelo doesn’t join the fight and Benavidez wins, I’m pretty sure the WBC will strip Canelo.
“So far, Morrell,” Lewkowicz said when asked which was the tougher fight for Benavidez between Plant and Morrell. “Both are great boxers, but remember, you have a fighter at Plant, and a boxer & a fighter at Morrell.
“Both were good fights, but if you ask me which is harder, I have a right to say which.
“I wouldn’t say it was a lucky punch. He’s a great fighter, Plant,” Lewkowicz said of Plant’s victory over Anthony Dirrell. “That’s why he beat Uzcategui. He’s a really good fighter. I am not underestimating him because he will be a worthy opponent for Benavidez, and it will pay per view.
“But if you asked me between Morrell and Plant, I would say strength. It’s going to be a great match, but it’s going to be a knockout,” Lewkowicz said of Plant vs. Benavidez.
“Late [knockout]. He’s a great fighter, Plant, so it won’t be soon. It would be very close to what happened with Canelo. It was over a couple of years,” Lewkowicz said of the feud between Plant and Benavidez.
“Usually, you say, ‘I’ve liked this guy before’ to build a fight, but not to build this one. They hate each other. I have never seen such hostility.
“Boo Boo Andrade wants to fight everyone, but when he has a chance to fight now, ‘Benavidez, I need to readjust.’ So that’s my answer. Whatever,” Lewkowicz said when informed that Demetrius Andrade was about to have a shoulder injury and wanted to make adjustments.
“He had a chance against Benavidez already, and he decided to adjust, which I agree with him in a way because he wanted to show 100 per cent, and I think this time. he won’t be able to 100%. but who knows?
“Sure, it was a talk [with Andrade]. There was no contract and he decided to join a temporary fight. Now he needs to [get] line up because the first will be Canelo, Morrell and Charlo.
“The most difficult person is probably Canelo. That will be the most difficult. Morrell, Plant,” Lewkowicz said when asked to rank the toughest fight for Benavidez among these fighters: Canelo Alvarez, Caleb Plant, Demetrius Andrade, Jermall Charlo and David Morrell.
“It has to be a knockout match between Plant and Charlo. I’ll say Morrell, Charlo and Plant. I believe Charlo is a fearless guy. He will fight Benavidez when the time comes. It’s a sport but it’s also a business.
“In terms of business, it’s not paying them now, but pay-per-view well next year, it’s going to be really big between Charlo and Benavidez,” Lewkowicz said.
