BYD Atto 3 electric SUV launched: price, range, powertrain, features, competitor details



The Atto 3 offers a claimed ARAI range of 521Km; Delivery time starts from January 2023.

Chinese car manufacturer BYD (Build Your Dreams) has launched the Atto 3 in India for Rs 33.99 lakh. Atto 3 is BYD’s second model for India after e6 MPV, is offer to private buyers back in August this year. BYD has been accepting reservations for Atto 3 since it was announced on October 11 with a token amount of Rs 50,000. The company says it has attracted 1,500 pre-orders for the Atto 3 to date. The first deliveries will start from January 2023.

BYD Atto 3: design and features

The Atto 3 sports a blank silver front grille flanked by sleek headlights with wing-shaped LED DRLs. Other elements at the front include the BYD lettering on the grille, trapezoidal two-tone bumpers and faux silver sliding panels.

On the sides, the electric SUV has black-painted wheel arches, 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, prominent shoulder lines and a C-pillar. At the rear, Atto 3 sports LED taillights extend, a spoiler. mounted on the roof, large ‘Build Your Dreams’ text and luxurious two-tone bumpers. Atto 3 comes in four colors – Boulder Grey, Parkour Red, Ski White and Surf Blue.

The electric SUV features a unique interior design that includes elements like round door-mounted speakers, stylish air-conditioning vents and a 12.8-inch rotating central display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of features, the Atto 3 has a panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate, wireless phone charger, 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster, synthetic leather seats, electric driver’s and front passenger’s seat with multi-colored lights. Safety features of the car include ADAS technology, 360-degree camera, ABS, ESC, traction control, downhill control and seven airbags.

BYD Atto 3: powertrain and charging

Powering the Atto 3 is a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor mounted on the front axle that generates 201hp and 310Nm of torque, allowing the electric SUV to complete the 0-100kph sprint in 7.3 seconds. BYD has equipped the Atto 3 with a 60.48kWh Blade battery pack that offers an ARAI rated range of 521 km and regenerative braking.

The Atto 3’s battery pack can be charged in about 10 hours with a Type 2 AC charger (7kW) and in 50 minutes (from 0 percent to 80 percent) with an 80kW DC fast charger. The company is offering a 7kW home charger and a 3kW portable charging case.

The Atto 3 also comes with a Truck function with an output power of 3.3kW, which means the battery pack can be used to power external electrical devices.

BYD Atto 3: warranty details

BYD if providing 8 years or 1.6 Lakhs km warranty (whichever comes sooner) for the battery, 8 years or 1.5 Lakhs km (whichever is earlier) for the motor and controller engine control and 6 years or 1.5 Lakhs km for the vehicle. In addition, the company is also offering 3 years free 4G data subscription, 6 years roadside assistance and 6 free maintenance services.

BYD Atto 3: opponent

BYD Atto 3 goes against MG ZS EV and Electric Hyundai Kona in the Indian market. Although not a direct competitor in terms of price, Atto 3 will also face competition from Nexon EV Max.
