The gelding process began last year with a half-way success at John Smith’s Cup on July 9 in York and then won the G3 Betfred Rose Of Lancaster S. four stages at Haydock on August 6.
Burrows went on to say, “You have Group 3 at Sandown–Gordon Richards and Brigadier General Gerard–but he gets a Pot 2 penalty in there, so I think if we’re having fun and he’s showing all the signs. the right brand at home, why no crack?”
As for the other members of Shadwell’s lineup under his care, the plan for the return of Hukum (Ire) (star sea {Ire}), who won the G1 Coronation Cup against Pyledriver (GB) (Harbour Watch {Ire}) last June, is also being consulted. An injury to the hind leg ended Baaeed’s (GB) year-old brother, but after a successful surgery, he has begun the recovery process. “I am talking to Angus [Gold, Shadwell racing manager] about a month ago about whether we’d have the guts to go back to Epsom for the first time, but maybe we don’t,” Burrows said.
“We will probably start preparing somewhere in May, with the main goal being [G2] Hardwicke S. at Royal Ascot and then the races are all scheduled for him. The good thing about him is that he seems to enjoy walking on soft ground, so it’s nice to think he’s going to France in October. He’s recovered well and Sheikha Hissa is keen to give him a chance. other.”
Burrows also provides an update on Alfala (GB) Dark Angel {Ire}), who scored three listed and Group 3 wins at the end of last season before breaking his left collarbone. That kept him out of the run in Bahrain in November, but he is making strides in his recovery and is expected to return soon.
“Alflaila is still back in Shadwell, I had an update a few weeks ago and he is back,” he said. “I hope he gets back to me next week or next week at the latest.”
