Bulldozer At UP Home As Daughter-In-Law Denied Entry

Bulldozer at UP's house when daughter-in-law refused entry

Bijnor: Pictures from outside the house show a squad of police with a bulldozer.

Lucknow:

Bulldozers have been controversially used in Uttar Pradesh to combat allegations of violence but for the first time, police used them to help a woman who was thrown out by her husband for a dowry.

The incident happened in Bijnor district after Allahabad High Court ordered the city police to help the woman re-enter her husband’s house.

Pictures from outside the home show a team of police officers notifying the husband’s family of the court order and warning them that failure to comply with the order could lead to action.

Koi fayda nahi (no points). We ask you amma, please open the door. This is an order of the supreme court,” an official said over the loudspeaker.

A bulldozer was also seen as police spoke to family members.

The police team helped the woman return to her husband’s house and the situation is now normal, police said in a statement.

When asked about the use of bulldozers, police said they used force because the family had previously refused to let the woman in.
