Buick Electra-X concept previews the design and direction of Chinese electric cars

The same day it revealed Wildcat EV . concept For North America, Buick also unveiled a new electric SUV concept for China.

Like the Wildcat EV, Buick Electra-X Concept previews the brand’s future design direction, including a new badge, significantly revised for the first time since 1990.

The Electra-X shares a number of styling elements with the Wildcat EV, including a forward-slanted front fascia, a trapezoidal grille, and what Buick calls “checkmark” taillights. However, the body style of the 4-seater coupe crossover is a little more related to Buick’s current lineup than the Wildcat EV 2+2 coupe.

The interior appears to have been stripped of all the switches, with control functions seemingly handled by the touchpad on the center console and the armrest. To reduce the vehicle’s environmental impact, the seats are upholstered with fabric made from recycled plastic bottles.

The 30-inch screen covers about half of the panel and has 6K resolution and 5G connectivity, according to Buick. It runs the automaker’s new Virtual Cockpit System, uses the QUALCOMM Snapdragon 8155 chip, and has over-the-air (OTA) update capabilities.
