BT and AWS are merging 5G and cloud technology to connect businesses on the go
BT has announced a significant investment in a joint project with Amazon Web Services (AWS), to bring 5G and 4G mobile edge computing services to enterprise customers in the UK.
With AWS’s cloud expertise and BT’s 5G/4G infrastructure, UK businesses can expect faster, more secure, high-bandwidth connectivity on the go. move, with crowd management, healthcare or security projects all set to greatly benefit from such a solution.
Furthermore, 5G is pivotal for Internet of Things solutions, such as autonomous vehicles, cameras for control or industrial robots.
AWS Wavelength
This new announcement is in line with what BT has been doing so far, which aims to enhance existing mobile networks and bring 5G infrastructure as a service through AWS Wavelength.
The new “AWS Wavelength Zone” will also be live in Manchester soon and will serve businesses in both the public and private sectors, within a 100 km radius. BT Wholesale, which provides services to telecom operators on the continent, has been working with AWS on the service, which is expected to cover the entire country in the near future.
AWS Wavelength is Amazon Web Service’s 5G edge computing infrastructure solution that brings AWS compute and storage services to the wireless network. That way, businesses get the mobile edge computing infrastructure for ultra-low latency applications.
