Browns sign CB Denzel Ward for big 5 year extension


The Cleveland Browns made Denzel Ward the NFL’s highest-paid full-back on Monday, signing him to a five-year, $100.5 million extension.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the extension includes a guaranteed $71.25 million.

With an average annual salary of $20.1 million, Ward will earn more than Los Angeles Rams’ Jalen Ramsey, who was once the highest-paid full-back with $20 million per season on his current contract. , signed in 2020.

Ward, 24, is on contract for $13.294 million this season after the Browns exercised the fifth-year option on his previous contract. The new extension will keep him in Cleveland through 2027.

Since being drafted for the fourth time by the Browns in 2018, Ward has recorded 10 interceptions – two of which were returned for touchdowns – and 50 passes defended in 52 games. He has been selected to two Pro Bowls, entered the rookie season and again in 2021.
