“British Left India But History Written Through Their Prism”: Amit Shah

“People say that history has been distorted so far for many reasons,” said Amit Shah.

New Delhi:

Union Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah said today that the British have left India and it is time to write history from an Indian point of view. “In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intention to remove all remnants of the colonial past, the most important thing is to free history from that. Veer Savarkar tried that for the first time by calling uprising The rise of 1857 was the first war of independence,” he said at a book launch in Delhi.

“Nonviolent struggle” has made a great contribution to India’s freedom, but the current narrative that there is no role for others is not true, Mr. Shah said.

“If parallel lines of armed revolution do not begin, it will take several decades to achieve independence,” said Mr. Shah. “We must understand that we do not have freedom as a gift, it has been achieved after the sacrifice and bloodshed of thousands. Today when I saw the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose erected on Kartyavapath , I’m very satisfied,” he said.

Mr. Shah’s remarks were made during the book launch – “Revolutionaries, Another Story of How India Won Freedom” by Sanjeev Sanyal.

“The word ‘other story’ is the summary of this book. Because a story has been established in public under a story. A point of view has been imposed on the public through history writing and education. I am not saying that nonviolent struggle has no role in the freedom struggle, or is not part of history. It is part of history and has a great contribution,” he said. Shah said.

But the nonviolent movement or the armed revolution, both with their roots in the 1857 revolution, and the responsibility of government and historians alike to preserve real historical facts before the new generation, he added.

“The British left India but history is written through their lens. Confusion remains,” the minister said, calling on students and history teachers to search for the 300 people who made India a nation. great family. “People say history has been distorted so far for many reasons but now nothing can stop us from writing it properly,” he added.

History must be removed from the stream of extremists versus moderates, he said, and made real.

Denying claims that the Mughals were the first empire to rule India for over 200 years, Amit Shah said: “Every time we’ve been told that the Mughals were the First Empire, but it wasn’t! There have been empires which has ruled this country for over 200 years”.
