British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe submits revised bid for Manchester United | UK News

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his chemical company INEOS have submitted a revised bid for Manchester United, Sky News has been informed.

It comes after the bid submission deadline was extended on Wednesday.

Cata‘s Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad and Sir Jim have both submitted requests for more time to refine their submissions before the original deadline.

A delegation from INEOS visited the club last week, spending six hours in meetings and touring Old Trafford and the Carrington training ground.

Sheikh Jassim was previously said to have been determined not to pay the odds for the club, which the owners of the Glazer family are said to have valued at £6billion.

But his position is said to have diminished after a Qatari delegation visited Old Trafford in recent days, with negotiations lasting 10 hours.

Sir Jim, who owns French club Nice, also hinted that he will not overpay the club.

He told the Wall Street Journal: “How do you decide the price of a painting? How do you decide the price of a house? It has nothing to do with construction costs or how much it costs to paint. .

“What you don’t want to do is pay stupid prices for everything because then you’ll regret it.”

The two men are the only known bidders for the club but Sky News understands there are several other financial proposals under consideration.

One option for the Glazer family, who have announced their willingness to sell in November, is a deal in which they can retain control of United by agreeing to a minority deal.
