Brees: Saints committed a crime against Winston
Since the New Orleans Saints fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs back in January 2021, they’ve lost future Hall-of Fame quarterback Drew Brees to retirement, replacing Jameis Winston for a tearing his ACL and damaging his MCL Last Halloween and what one-time Super Bowl-winning coach Sean Payton would do likely was a day off last winter.
The Saints re-signed Winston through a two-year contract last month and let him take the top depth chart than veteran Andy Dalton. Each Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com, Brees recently spoke at a public event and hinted that he believes Winston can thrive playing under new head coach Dennis Allen and offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael .
“He’s a young guy, and he’s had to struggle and get through everything before, so he knows how to do it,” Brees said of the 2015 first overall selection. “I think The more offense he does, the better he gets. He’s with a great group of coaches. Even with Sean gone, a lot of the people on the offensive side are Sean’s disciples, so so says Pete Carmichael is as good a player as he is in the league, in my opinion vast experience with him.”
Brees added that he feels the New Orleans offense is “set up for success” with Winston serving as QB1.
“I think you keep building the pieces around him that will help him succeed,” Brees continued. “I think the ball-holding defense has incredible leadership and has been playing at a really high level over the last few years.”
Saints aside in their famous pursuit of star signal caller Deshaun Watson, who dropped a no-trade clause last month to move from the Houston Texans to the Cleveland Browns. Since then, New Orleans has link with former Pittsburgh Panthers winger Kenny Pickett and Freedom Flames Malik Willis in some mock drafts and rumors.
