Breeders’ Cup Workers dominate Keeneland’s Worktab

Early morning activity at racecourses around the country was in full swing on Saturday, with horses aiming for next month’s Breeders’ Cup races dominating the scene. Well represented at Keeneland, coach Chad Brown has the majority of his championship team working on both the main track and the grass.

“Things were going really, really well this morning, considering everything was going,” Brown said, referring to the 190-piece horse mass on the main track. “They’ve all done a great job and they’ll have another work next week, but these are serious jobs for today.”

Highlighting his dirty workers is Jack Christopher (Munnings), who worked five pairs of trousers at 1:00.20 in company with winner GI Champagne S. Blazing Sevens (Good magic) (video), can attend the GI Qatar Racing Breeders ‘Cup Sprint or the GI Big Ass Fans Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. Blazing Sevens is a contender for the GI FanDuel Breeders’ Juvenile Cup.

On the field, three times Champion of Division I Domestic Spending (GB) (King {GB}) has worked with 5 companies with candidates Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf of GI Maker Virginia Joy (Ger) (Empty soldier {GB}) in 1:01.40 (video). Domestic Spend, who most recently started work in August 2021, did not return to the work tab until this past August.

“He did a very, very good job this morning and galloped really well,” Brown said of Domestic Spend, who is being considered for the GI FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile. “We’ll see how he’s doing in the morning and then have another job.”

Other workers for Brown are: Search Results (Flater) (Distaff), five clamps in 1:02.60; Good night olives (Ghostzapper) (Filly and Mare Sprint), five animated films 1:00.40; In Italian (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) (Filly and Mare Turf), four feathers on the pitch: 49.80; King of Glory (Animal Kingdom) (Miles) and Rougir (Fr) (Territory {Ire}) (Filly and Mare Turf), four feathers together on the pitch: 49.20; Seaside (Curlin) (adolescent filling) and I’m very busy (Cloud Computing) (Minor Lawn), four extending together on the main road in: 48.20; and Oxymore (Astern {Aus}) (Juvenile Turf), who worked half a mile on the main track at: 48.80 in the multi-company Portfolio Company (Kitten’s Joy).

Also working in Lexington yesterday, GI TVG.com winner Haskell S. Hot Rod Charlie (Oxbow) wraps five sweaters at 1:00.80 in the company (video). This is the chestnut’s second entry since winning the GII Lukas Classic at Churchill Downs October 1.

“It went great,” said cyclist Tyler Gaffalione, who took part in the work. “Everything is going well. We sat a few minutes away from the company. He’s pulling me away and catching them. Going into the long haul, I just gave him my head and let him finish. He was in himself, and he was very happy. Everything seems to be going well right now. He is a very interesting horse. His resume speaks for itself. I am really looking forward to this opportunity.”

Second in the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile 2020 with a score of 94-1, Hot Rod Charlie finished fourth in last year’s Classic in Del Mar.

“Charlie is absolutely bouncing around the barn to cool off,” says O’Neill assistant Stephanie Murray. “You would never guess that he just went out and worked for a minute. He’s just on his toes and has really good energy. “

Also works for O’Neill, GI Breeders ‘Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint’ candidate Sharp Aza Tack (Sharp Azteca) worked the metal five in 1:00.20 on the all-weather training track.
