Brad Cox comeback Pegasus S. Wins with the home team

A year after winning this race with GISW Mandaloun (Into Mischief) before winning GI Haskell S., Brad Cox returns to Jersey Shore with Home Brew. Except for one bad run when he caught a sloppy track against Smarty Jones S. January 1 of Oaklawn, son of Street Sense boasts an almost unmarked record, with his only loss coming on November 14 in his first start for Cox at Churchill Downs. After a three-month absence from Smarty Jones, Home Brew returned to take the Oaklawn S. April 23 and posted a career-high 84 Beyer Speed. Second pick 3-2 for Saturday’s contest, Home Brew took the insider in third as Cyberviking led the field through an opening inning at: 23.70. Maneuvering on the long turn, he tripled wide at 1/4 pole and breathed early leaders, pulling away in the final sixteenth to win by an easy 6 1/4 length difference .

“He’s not a really big horse and I think we just spent time with him and let him mature and I think that helped a lot,” said assistant trainer Blake Cox. On whether Home Brew can vie for Haskell on July 23 with its stablemate Cyberknife (Gunman), Cox said: “I’m not sure about that. We have to see where we are. We got lucky in Haskell so we’ll see. ”

Home Brew has a 2-year-old full brother named Day Trade who was his last reported pony.
