A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after stabbing a girl, also 13.
South Yorkshire Police were called to Hillsborough Park in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, at around 9pm on Tuesday after reports that a 13-year-old girl had been stabbed.
The victim was stabbed in the stomach and taken to hospital, where he is in stable condition.
A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.
Detective Superintendent Nikki Leach said: ‘We know this incident will cause profound concern in the local community and beyond.

‘We have arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with the incident and our investigations are continuing to determine the full circumstances of what led to the victim’s stabbing.
‘We believe the victim and suspect knew each other and we are pleased that there is no broader risk to the public.
‘Staff are still at the scene and are carrying out additional patrols to give you peace of mind.
‘If you see our officers, please talk to them – they are there to help and support you.’
