Boxing results: Badou Jack gets extra time to complete the comeback victory

A strange incident occurred in the eighth round as it was a very competitive round until Jack dumped his body at the end. For the rest of the match, Rivera had a better work rate, but Jack kept moving forward and getting neater shots. As the twelfth inning ended, the scorecards showed Jack pulling out a decisive victory. One judge gave him a score of 96-94 in favor of Rivera, and two other judges gave Jack the win with the same score of 96-94.

Badou Jack (27-3-3, 16 KOs) claimed his fifth straight win, but he failed to do so spectacularly. Jack admits Rivera was difficult to fight because he was holding, running, and awkward. Rivera (21-1, 16 KOs) thought he won the skirmish and he was very unhappy with the decision.

“I feel like I’ve definitely done enough. I’m a bit hurt because I really believe in the boxing rating system. I felt despite his ability to go against me when he came to his field and stipulates that if I still do my thing, I will still be awarded the victory,” said Rivera.

38-year-old veteran Badou Jack will likely win and move on instead of giving Rivera a rematch.
