Europe
The European design shows ol’ Wario in a series of different unfortunate incidents, each taking place against a backdrop of flat skies. It’s pretty silly to look at, and we like the animated design of each sprite (and how that bat overlaps with the GBC outline), but it’s probably not the most detailed out there.
North America
The North American design features the same Wario as the European design, but the backgrounds have been completely revamped, with the game’s central music box taking pride of place. The more we look, the more we miss those silly Wario patterns.
Japan
Finally, the Japanese version. This version is very similar to the NA version in terms of the center image, but man, is there more text in here! The overall background image takes up more of the frame, but the expanded header and orange footer mean that most of the background image is covered up.
