Box Art Brawl: Pokémon Colosseum
Be sure to vote in the poll below; but first, let’s take a look at the case designs.
North America
Now, how cool does that look? The dark North American cover is all about the Legendary Pokémon, with Groudon, Kyogre, Raikou, Entei, and Suicune taking center stage. It’s also one of the rare instances of a Pokémon Trainer appearing on the cover of a book, as the game’s protagonist Wes appears in the background.
It’s simple but quite effective.
Europe
Now this is interesting. The European cover has all the same elements as the NA cover but arranged completely differently. Wes takes a much more prominent role here, standing next to the legends as the central focal point. The somber black has also been replaced with a brighter yellow background, with a sandy desert taking up the lower portion of the design. There’s definitely more to see here.
Japan
The Japanese design completely removes Wes, pushing the game’s title to the bottom to give the legends space to shine. It’s a more Pokémon-focused approach, and it’s also the only one that mentions the title’s ‘arena’, with a walled backdrop surrounding the title text.
Thanks for voting! We’ll see you next time in another round of Box Art Brawl.
