Six bouncers and the manager of a nightclub in Gurgaon have been arrested after a video clip of them abusing a group of men and women outside the club went viral. A case of assault and sexual abuse has been registered against them.
The image shows men being pulled and punched by bouncers, who also push women who are trying to shield the men. A woman filming the video exclaimed: “There’s blood. Please stop now,” but the bouncers continued to slap and punch. Another clip shows at least one guard using a stick to assault. The men and women tried to fight back but outnumbered them.
The incident happened late on Sunday night in the Udyog Vihar area of the city. Police have registered a first information report (FIR) against club employees, including whistleblowers.
During the FIR, one of the men attacked – an IT company employee – alleged that as they entered the club, a security guard touched one of the women in their group in a violent manner. inappropriate and they objected. The manager then stepped out and told the people who were posted online, “Let’s hit them and make them run,” which is the allegation.
The group was then treated at a nearby private hospital.
There are also allegations that the bouncers took away a watch and “about Rs 10,000” from one of the men.
The club condemned the violence and fired the staff involved. However, they have denied the allegations of sexual abuse.
“With the naked eye looking at the videos and photos, it can be easily determined that the Guest initially engaged in verbal misconduct, which later turned into a bigger mess on both sides.” , it said.
